What magic saved the life of the author of Harry Potter?
JK Rowling, the author of Harry Potter, says that her daughter and doctor saved her from acting on suicidal thoughts.
The forty two year old Rowling said the end of her first marriage in her mid twenties plunged her into depression, and she had thoughts of suicide. As a single mother life was hard for her. The only thing that kept her going was her daughter and she decided to seek help.
“The thing that made me go for help… was probably my daughter. She was something that earthed me, grounded me, and I thought, this isn’t right, this can’t be right, she cannot grow up with me in this state.”
Rowling said in an interview that was reported in the Sunday Times. She had undergone cognitive behavioral therapy that saved her life. She went on to write seven Harry Potter books that sold over 350 million copies.
She is happy to talk about her personal problem to help others. We hope her power of magic can break the spell of stigma surrounding mental problems and depression.

Wow! Everyone has their ups and downs in life it seems.
Very Inspiring though. She had the strength to pull herself out, and give a direction to her life.
