Is having two faces a sign of deformity or divinity?
Depends who you ask. For the world it may be a deformity, but a baby born in India with two faces is considered a reincarnation of one of the Indian gods.
The three week old baby girl was born in a village near Indian capital New Delhi. Prenatal care is not common in India, especially in villages where clinics are rare and people are too poor to afford the service. As a result, the parents came to know about the condition only after her birth. They were concerned at first, but that changed soon. People in the village started worshiping her thinking she is the reincarnation of Ganesha - the god with elephant head. She became famous soon, and locals are flocking to see her for blessing and showering the parents with money and gifts. The problem is that the baby is not getting any medical attention she needs. Her family is refusing even free medical help on the ground that she is god and there is nothing wrong with her.
I guess that is India - a country with two faces: one is the sophisticated high tech center of the world and the other superstitious traditional India. Only time will tell if it is a deformity that would haunt India for a long time or it is a sign of divinity that will make India special.

You have no idea about Indian culture, so you do not know why it is important to the villagers. There is nothing wrong with having a little faith. One can have high tech and religion. I do not see what is the problem.
It is indeed saddening to see what surrounds the baby who needs immediate medical help.

I hope while celebrations to mark revival of faith and of course, (re-) birth of Goddess Durga are on somebody does think of saving the baby’s life.
Her parents have even refused to get a CT scan. I am sure lot of doctors, institutions, and hospitals worldwide will come forward to help only if parents and family cooperate.
