Can Stones and Tube break the Tune?
That is what YouTube is hoping. It is starting its own music channel called Living Legends that would feature pop artists all over the world including Rolling Stones to steal some of the popularity of iTunes.
YouTube already got together with the band, and there is a video clip of Jagger and Richards promoting the new channel. Fans anywhere in the world can upload their personal clips with questions, and the best ones would get personal attention from the stars themselves. The video of Jagger and Richards answering the questions would appear regularly on the channel. You no longer have to wait for them to visit your city or wait in line at the backstage; you can get some face time, well sort of, sitting at your home. They hope that the recent release of Stones concert documentary “Shine a Light” will act as an ignition for the channel. The movie was directed by legendary Martin Scorsese. YouTube hopes to add other pop artists and bands to the channel soon.
YouTube is not the only one that is after iTunes. MySpace started their online music venture before YouTube.
