Who suffer more from broken heart: men or women?

Surprisingly enough, it is men. When heart is broken, women may cry a lot more, but men are more likely to die.

apr08_oldcouple.jpgA new research found that the idea of a broken heart is not just a myth but it can kill people. Both men and women suffer from broken heart. The pain in losing our loved one can cause us to die early. For women, the chance of dying doubles within a year of her partner’s death. If that is sad, consider men. For men, the loss of their wives can increase their chances of death by six times. The good news is that both men and women cope with the loss over time and after a year the chance of death comes down. The loneliness and depression caused by the loss are the primary reasons for the increased risk. Also, it does not help when people resort to unhealthy life style when they are depressed.

So, for your own sake, take care of your loved ones. It will help you live longer.

Since women seem to be doing the majority of household work, (http://www.newzity.com/2008/04/04/why-married-woman-are-always-busy/) Could the physical strain from having to do household work be the cause too? :)
