Yes, they can. A man in New Zealand was arrested for using a hedgehog to attack a teenage boy.

William Singalargh, a 27 year old New Zealand man, picked up a hedgehog and threw it at a 15 year old boy standing about 15 feet away. The hedgehog hit the boy’s leg puncturing his skin in a few places and left a large red welt. Police arrested William, and he was charged with assault with a weapon. It was not clear if the hedgehog was already dead or killed during the incident. Also, police was not sure if alcohol was involved.

This surely gives a new meaning to biological weapon.
