Can a blind golfer make a hole-in-one?
Yes, surely. Meet Robert Dunham. This week he aced a par-3 course, and he is legally blind and 85 year old.
About ten years ago Robert started losing his eye sight, and thought he would have to stop playing golf. But three weeks ago when he joined the Veterans Affairs program, he got back to his game. Last week he was playing with his fellow blind golfers from the VA program. At the hole number 3, the assistant placed the orange ball and handed him a 9-iron and moved back. Robert took his shot and followed through. The ball moved through the air straight and landed softly on the green. It took a short jump before sinking at the bottom of the cup. Robert heard people around him erupted in cheers. He himself could not believe it.
“I thought they were kidding me. I told them, ‘You guys better not be pulling my leg.’”
Next time you complain about some obstruction in your line of sight, remember you do not need to see if you got the swing.
