In which airport animals can relax in private lounge?(0)

Frankfurt, of course. This Friday it opened the 40 thousand square feet Animal Lounge where exhausted elephants, tired tigers, and fatigued fish can chill out in between their hectic flight schedule.

apr08_frankfurt.jpgBig animals like polo ponies and race horses, which are frequent flyers at Frankfurt, and occasional elephants and rhinos there are 42 rooms in the new lounge. For the more petite passengers there are 39 special booths and a dozen of the private ones are air conditioned. The lounge is sound proof so that animals can relax in peace and won’t get disturbed by the monkey business of other animals. There are special mommy-and-me rooms for mothers traveling with young babies. The new lunge even has a resuscitation room for tropical fish. The floors are fitted with non-slip asphalt rather then concrete for more comfortable and accident free stroll for the animals. If you are afraid of losing precious pet in the animal jungle, do not worry: the place has high security and is fitted with surveillance cameras.

Now all the 14 thousands cats and dogs, 15 thousand ponies and horses, and 3 thousand tons of tropical fish that travel through Frankfurt every year can rest up in the new lounge. Not to mention the occasional celebrities like elephants, rhinos, tigers, and penguins.

How does a programmer propose to his girlfriend?(16)

By popping the question in a computer game, of course. Bernie Peng, a software engineer, rewrote part of his girlfriend’s favorite video game Bejeweled to hide the ring and propose to her. She said yes.

apr08_tammyli.jpgNormal people have used many things, from flower to food, to hide the ring in an effort to surprise their love. But none of us were clever enough to do what a geeky programmer came up with: hid the ring in a program. Peng, a 26 year old software engineer, spent a month painstakingly reprogramming her girlfriend’s favorite game Bejeweled, and waited for her to reach a certain level. When his girlfriend Tammy Li got to the score she was greeted with the marriage proposal and the jewels were arranged to form a ring. Twenty seven year old Li thought it was a pleasant surprise and said yes. That is how real programmers bejewel their love ones. They plan to reach the final level on Labor Day weekend and get married. Unlike most cases when the game companies frown on anyone who reprograms, PopCap, the maker of Bejeweled, is supporting Peng on this romantic expression. They are even planning for wedding gifts that include $1,000 jewel themed decoration and honeymoon help by giving them air tickets to Seattle.

Who said nerds cannot be romantic.
