Did Dr. Phil bail out teen charged with brutal attack?(3)
Yes, you bet. Dr. Phil could not help but butted in and bailed out Mercades Nichols, the leader of the gang of eight teens who brutally beat up 16 year old Victoria Lindsay.
This is not the first time Dr. Phil tried to get some publicity off high profile case for boosting his TV show rating. Remember his uninvited trip to UCLA Medical Center to meet troubled Britney and the subsequent apology. Either he is really a slow learner or he is rating addict. Either case it did not take him long before he did it again. This time it was one of teens who brutally attacked another teen over some comments on MySpace. People from his show posted $33,000 bond and bailed out Mercades Nichols from jail. As they were leaving with the teen and her family, they told reporters to stop filming since they had exclusive right to the story.
When the story got out, the show as usual issued a statement blaming some of the staff members:
“We have helped guests and potential guests in the past when they need financial assistance to come on the show - assisting with clothing allowance, lost wages, accommodations, travel and necessities. In this case, certain staff members went beyond our guidelines. These staff members have been spoken to and our policies reiterated. In addition, we have decided not to go forward with the story as our guidelines have been compromised.”
